Thank You & Let The Years Keep On Comin’

As some of you know yesterday was the official 2 year anniversary of YNMD. I’ve been going two years strong and so much good has come my way since I first kicked the site off 3 Aprils ago. I’ve been granted the privilege to sponsor mixtapes, sponsor events, Interview different artists and producers from the likes of Stalley, Ski Beatz, K. Sparks, Trademark, AlBe Back, and many more. These past two years have been nothing but a blessing. So I thank you the viewers and all those who have included me in their movement. I started off with the intention of providing you with quality Hip-Hop music and I plan on keeping that promise until the day I die. Everything I do is for the love of the music. Hopefully you the supporters will continue to support and enjoy the music I provide you with daily. Now in honor of 2 good years I would like to give a thank you and shed some light upon some of the past mixtapes I’ve been able to provide you with and be a part of. So lets hit the jump and take a look back shall we…

First I shed some light upon a man who is not just a supporter and an artist I support. Mike Schpitz has been rockin’ with YNMD since it first kicked off. A friend to me and my movement, Mike over the past two years has granted me the privilege to stand behind two of the realest projects I’ve ever had the opportunity to listen to. Mike to me is the meaning behind the saying the daily grind. For years now Mike has tried to grab the attention of many and is slowly but steady climbing up that ladder. Not everything comes easy to everyone, some of us actually have to bust our ass just to get our foot in the door and Mike shows us his journey through his music.

Next up we got Duality. I was first put on to Duality’s music several months back via my good friend K. Sparks. Right off the bat it was like love at first listen. The duo embodies that street sound you tend to hunger for when it comes to Hip-Hop music. Being backed up by K. Sparks is simply a perk to their movement. I know this NYC duo has many years ahead of them when it comes to making music and that sure as hell makes me glad.

Nick Pratt is simply a man amongst boys. Nick is one of the few who I know gives it 110% of his soul on every track. My homie Thomas from JENESIS Magazine was the first one to put me on to Nick’s music and ever since I’ve been scratching my head in wonder of when the world is going to catch on. The kid is no joke and he proves himself worthy of ear time with his lyrics. If you are going to dedicate any of your spare time to new music, I suggest you look the kid up and grab whatever tracks of his you can. Once you hit play the thought of turning to something else will not cross your mind. Nick Pratt really is that good, see for yourself.

What about Trinity isn’t amazing. To put it in perspective, she floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee. A true beautiful soul with the delivery of a knockout king. Trinity is one FeMC who’s rhymes and flow you can and will appreciate. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, when it comes to female MC’s in the game, Trinity is amongst my favorite. She can and probably will put a lot of these sucka male MC’s to shame. Step your game up fellas. As for you, I suggest you all step your game up as well. Get with her movement because you can’t afford to miss the next step she takes. I’ve seen her grow step by step into the artist she is today and I don’t think she plans to slow her pace down anytime soon. A true Chi city rep indeed.

I’ve been rockin’ with 89 for some time now and every time he comes at us with something new it’s like Christmas. 89 doesn’t come around that often but the times he does stop by you can’t help but enjoy what he brings to the table. With 89 it’s clearly quality over quantity and he shows us the kin of quality he is all about with every single track he drops. It’s been a great ride and I hope 89 only continues to rock with YNMD, this will forever be a home to him.

G-Scott is one who I can relate to on many levels. At this point in our life we are both two kids with certain goals, visions, and dreams. We both go and have gone through struggles and triumphs on our road to success. One thing we don’t do and never will do is slow down. Luckily I’ve had the privilege to actually kick it with G-Scott and he is as real as he carries himself through his music. G isn’t just an artist I support he is much more, G will forever be a friend to me and my movement. To put it simple G-Scott is just an all around great guy, except when it comes to all that Ace Hood shit (friends become enemies). In all seriousness though I thank G-Scott for allowing me to help out and contribute with what I can to his movement, I wish him nothing but success. May the industry be good to you homie, I hope those dreams you seek come true.

Step into a time machine and set the date to April 7th, 2009 with the destination locked on Chicago, Illinois. There you will find a teenager who’s love for Hip-Hop is unlike anything else, one who’s iPod literally ruled the world. When I kicked off YNMD I kept my iPod up to date with all the latest material. Now unfortunately I don’t have all the time I wish I could to do so. I do however still have a K. Sparks playlist that goes on for days. K was one of the few artists who’s material I needed a daily dosage of. Coming into the blogosphere the idea of sponsoring a project for such an artist was a long shot. I mean, I came into this game literally with nothing. I was simply just a random kid in big city who had a love and passion for something. Look at my movement today though, it’s greater than anything I could have ever hoped for and knowing that K. Sparks asked me personally to help out with his movement is still something I have trouble believing, it’s unreal. That moment is a moment that will live on in my mind, heart, and soul until the day I go. I take nothing for granted and the fact that I’ve been able to connect with K on different levels is a blessing. Two years later and K is among several who I happen to talk to often. Who would of figured that a kid out of the city of wind with not one single connect now happens to know and talk to K. Sparks, blows my mind every single day. Keep on keepin’ on K, you’re one of the best out here. #TRUTH!

SkyBlew to me represents….me. No co-sign’s, just a kid who started out with nothing and ended up with something. When Sky came to me I honestly didn’t know what to expect. The first email he sent over wasn’t the best looking email I ever got but what awaited me inside was something I couldn’t turn down. Inside that email was a kid who was loaded with lyrical skill and pure raw talent, a kid who was dying to be heard. Lucky for me I’m no A hole and I gave his music a chance. I could of at that moment said this email is poorly written, DELETE! I however didn’t and still don’t (unless its just a link -_-). You can’t always judge an artist on their emails. The email might be poorly built but the artists material and skill is what matters the most. It’s all about the love of good music and supporting those who sound good and speak the truth. So lets keep that in mind and continue to do so. SkyBlew’s journey is still young and I’m sure things will only continue to get better for him at this point. Keep up the great work homie and continue to provide us with that realness.

It’s been a bit of a journey for Ryshon. He came to me almost a year ago with a track entitled “She’s Leaving For College” and right away I fell in love with the kids ability. Several months following his YNMD debut he contacted me in hoes that I would back up a project he had in the works, I agreed. I gave Ryshon the okay because I felt his talent truly was and still is supreme to many others. Little did I know this project entitled “She’s Leaving For College” would set records and would spend months as one of the most searched topics on the site. Until this day the project still gets searched. Now Ryshon’s following has increased dramatically, after moths of trying he has finally gotten the attention of a young lady blogger who goes by Ashley Outrageous. This accomplishment is simply a stepping stone in what I’m sure will be a promising journey for young Ryshon. The way I see it, he’s barely getting started. So with that being said I thank you. Thank you for allowing me to take part in your mission and movement.

Music falling into my lap is the best way to describe how I came across Purpose. His music and his Statik Selektah hosted project where basically the Hip-Hop God’s gift to me. Purpose kind of just randomly struck my email but I’m hella glad he did. His project “Better Than Your Album” was amongst the realest and truest sounding projects I’ve ever had the opportunity to be a part of. Homie is very lyrical and if you’re a true fan of Hip-Hop than Purpose’s music is exactly what you need to keep your collection of music growing. It’s been a while since I last heard from him but I’m sure as I type this he sense it. I can see him now, standing at the drawing board as you read, ready to strike again.

Kandid McmuthaeffinFly! Kandid to be best put is my explosive secret and one of those cases that just happened to fall into my lap as well. When I first heard Kandid’s “Stage Fright” it was like I was living in one of those moments where a rapper just shuts the show down. A moment where thousands of fans are screaming for the performer to come back out and bless the entire crowd with his presence. “Stage Fright” was just that Godly to me. Soon after Kandid and his camp came at me to help them in their movement by promoting and sponsoring a brand new mixtape for Kandid. I eagerly accepted. Finding out that Mr. Peter Parker and DJBooth.net where behind the project as well simply added to my excitement and anticipation of the project. Kandid was and still is on another level. It’s a real shame that there are still people out there who have yet to catch on hence the meaning behind my explosive secret. In support for Kandid though I truly hope the world catches on soon, some of us are missing out on what is an essential part of our music life. Glad I caught on when I did.

What about my connect to JENESIS Magazine isn’t the shit. The homie Thomas and I chop it up almost daily. He has put me on to some ILL talent and I have put him on to some dope talent as well. Being one of the select few to have an early look at some of the ILLest interviews with some of the ILLest artists is point blank, period, THE SHIT! JENESIS Magazine truly is all that, and in my eyes there is no better outlet for the latest in Hip-Hop. Thomas and I have been rocking together for almost a year now and we both have no intentions of slowing down. We are both on a mission to rule the world and we ain’t giving up until we do so. You know they saying, “NBA Where Amazing Happens,” well take the NBA out and add a JENESIS Mag. #OneLove

Street Hop! Revalation & Strick 9 of EMS deliver upon request for true music, music that feeds one’s soul. YNMD has been supporting that of EMS since birth. The entire EMS crew is as real as your are going to get. They steady stick behind one another and create nothing but classic Hip-Hop together. When you gather up 9, Rev, and add M-Dot, Mayhem and the rest of the EMS crew you are bound to get blasted with one of the greatest lyrical waves you could ever imagine. Both Rev & 9 fed me, they fed me timeless raps which until this day still live in rotation. I haven’t personally heard from the two in a while but I never count them out. Hopefully they come back with some heat in the near future. I need some truth in my life.

Ryan wasn’t one who came across me, I was the one that pretty much came across him and his music. I’ve been rockin’ with Ryan ever since he released his unreleased DJ Khalil produced cut entitled “Audio Pictures.” Once I clicked play on that song I knew I was witness to something special. Ryan’s talent is off the charts and I’m glad he gave YNMD the chance to solely sponsor “War Journalz,” which was combination of some of the ILLest raps known to man. To put it simple, Ryan is a beast on the mic. Hopefully he continues to blaze shit up with new rhymes and raps. As long as YNMD is around Ryan’s music will always have a home.

FSM, what a combination of talent. My connect to FSM comes through my good friend Jones Andrews. Me and JA have been cool with each other for a long time now. When I first heard Jones Andrews it was a no brainer. I knew I had to rock with the kid on every step he took. He went from making good music to winning big contests and eventually ended up in the hands of the FSM team. FSM truly is one talented bunch and his acquisition made them that much more talented. Lucky for me I have been given the chance to kick it with the FSM crew multiple times and each time it’s a blessing. Just make sure you watch out for them in the future, they’ll be here for years to come. They’ll be the ones blessing your iPod with good music. #TRUTH!

Who could ever forget the first project YNMD was ever a part of. It wouldn’t of been possible if it wasn’t for my good friend AntonGenius who I’ve been with almost since day one. Anton & I go back to the days of blogspot, back to when I just posted links and you basically had to copy and paste it because I was blog retarded. It’s all a process though, and with time and dedication one learns to master their craft. This project was the beginning of something special for me though. It gave me the hope and confidence I needed to keep on keepin’ on. “All About You” means the world to me and I will never forget it. It’s played such an important role in the life of this young blogger. I will forever have this in my collection of favorite projects. Shouts to those who have been around for the past two years. I have a million more to go so stick with me and I will forever keep on bringing you great music.
